So, enough babbling–here’s Mia! At least, the way I imagine her. And since you hardly will be able to catch her without Logan, I thought it fitting to find a photo that worked for the both of them.
What is the name of your character? Is he/she a fictional person or a historic person?
Her name is Mia. Her last name is Musgrove, but she thinks that’s ugly and hates me for pairing her with it. Since this is a fictional retelling of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Mia’s character got her name from Hermia.
When and where is the story set?
Modern day in a city called Athens. No, not *that* Athens, much to Mia’s disappointment, though she’d love to travel there as a journalist one day.
What should we know about him/her?
She’s not afraid to go after her dreams, and she firmly believes that she knows what’s best. If she does happen to be wrong, it’s someone else’s fault. It should go without saying, this line of thinking lands her in trouble.
What is the main conflict? What messes up his/her life?
Mia finds out the hard way that her BFF is Cupid. So, logically, the next step would be to use Cupid’s journal and do a little match making of her own. You see, she’s got a thing for Vince Demetrius, the high school’s resident hottie, but doesn’t realize Logan Sanders has a thing for her. Then there’s Elena, Mia’s friend who of course, likes Vince also.
Yeah, things don’t go according to plan.
What is the personal goal of the main character?
She wants to graduate with minimum embarrassment. She wants a job as a reporter. She also wants a boyfriend. Exactly *who* she wants that boyfriend to be … well that changes.
Is there a working title for this novel, and can we read more about it?
Right now it’s titled SCRATCH THAT. You might have heard me call it CUPID INCORPORATED before, but I don’t think that one will stick. Too cutesy and middle grade for what I’m thinking. I’m also considering WHAT FOOLS WE BE. What title do you like best?
When we can expect the book to be published?
I’m in the final stages of editing with Pitch Wars and will then be querying. Eep!
So now I’m supposed to tag two more people to participate. Don’t feel obligated! Heaven knows, I turned down my fair share of invitations 🙂 But if you feel like it, I tag Jennavier Gilbert, my fabulous sister-in-law and Lindsay Sanchez, one of my best friends in real life. See, I’m allowed to pick on you two because I actually know you 🙂 Of course, if any of my readers want to do this blog hop and answer these questions about one of your characters, please do, and let me know about it!
